Nearly 200 people attended a rally for Impeachment in Miami. The Kickoff Rally/Meeting of the South Florida Impeachment Coalition (as it was billed) drew frustrated Americans from across the political spectrum to hear David Swanson (co-founder, afterdowningstreet.org) give the reasons why impeachment is necessary and in order. WatchSwanson's dynamic address online. The Green Party, a founding member of the Coalition, was prominent in planning and promoting theevent.
John Nichols, reporter for The Nation, and author of The Genius of Impeachment, spoke to a standing-room-only crowd at Books and Books, Coral Gables. He pointed out that while the notions of religion, corporations and free enterprise do not appear anywhere in the US Constitution, the word impeachment does six times.
As difficult as it may seem, Nichols contended, the Impeachment of Cheney and Bush is required to maintain a state of law in America, it is "the ultimate act of patriotism" at this difficult time in our history. See Video.

1- Housing Advocates come together to repudiate mayor's statement that "There is no housing crisis" At a recent press conference, housing advocates referred to an article published by Mayor Manny Diaz in the Miami Herald, entitled "There is no crisis in housing." The release points out that " In his piece, Diaz minimized the scandals detailed in recent media articles and dismisses the impact of this corruption on the poor. In spite of Miami's status as the least affordable city in the nation, Diaz contends there is "absolutely not" a crisis in housing." See release.

This multi-media event featured speakers, panels and performances all related to the chimeric "War on Drugs". This so-called "War" diverts huge amounts of both money and attention from underlying social problems, incarcerating millions, clogging our court system, heavily punishing many for victimless "crimes", removing millions from voters rolls, growing the private "prison-industrial complex," and all the while neither going after the Big Pushers with major bank accounts, and fleets of boats and planes, nor attempting to rehabilitate real people with addiction problems.
