U.S. Senator from Colorado 'wannabe' Mark Udall has issued a press release on the Scooter Libby commutation using some tough words -- but he encourages you and the Congress to do absolutely ... nothing ... to hold Bush and Cheney accountable for their abuse of power. (We're supposed to feel that justice is being served because, according to Udall, "If a conspiracy along these lines is established and proven, the Bush Administration will rightly be compared to the Nixon Administration ..." Wow, we can compare Bush to Nixon ... don't you feel better already?)
Today's Denver Post contains an article reporting various degrees of "disappointment" and "outrage" from the rest of the state's Democrat representatives in Washington.
Another Bush/Cheney regime scandal and again no talk of censure or impeachment.
This episode is another that ought to encourage progressive patriots to change their voter registration to Green -- and let the Democrat Party establishment know that their lack of leadership has caused you to take this pro-active, positive action.
Only by taking such a bold step can you begin to save this Republic.
Bush and Cheney have made a hash of the Constitution and the rule of law ... their goal has been power for themselves, the principles of the nation be damned.
We want to believe that perhaps now the Democrats will finally stand up and demand justice, accountability, a restoration of civil liberties and an end to the looting and corruption that Bush/Cheney have perpetrated upon the American people.
Past performance, however, does not give us much hope that the Democrats will rise to the challenge -- you sense that Bush and Cheney and Rove know this, that is why they just do whatever it is that they want -- who is going to stop them?
Still, maybe this time?
(Sadly though, you can almost hear the consultants and advisors in the offices of Democrat Congressional leaders and inside the top echelons of the Obama, Clinton, Edwards and Richardson campaigns secretly pleased that the 'commutation' of Libby happened now, during the Independence Day holidays ... maybe, they hope, it will all fade away by next week and they won't have to talk about 'impeachment'.)
